A/Prof Kevin Tan is currently serving as Head, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, and Vice Dean (Graduate Studies), NUS Medicine. He graduated, top of his Honors class, with a BSc Hons in Microbiology (NUS) in 1994. He pursued his PhD from 1994-1999 at the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine, NUS. He graduated in 1999 and joined the Senior Tutor Scheme, which saw him through his postdoctoral stint at The Rockefeller University, USA, where he was trained in molecular parasitology under the mentorship of Professor George Cross. He returned to NUS in 2003 and was promoted to Assistant Professor at the Department of Microbiology. He subsequently achieved promotion and tenure to Associate Professor in 2011. Kevin is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biologists (UK) and a Chartered Biologist (UK). He has authored/ co-authored 122 scientific papers in internationally recognized journals, 8 book chapters and 135 conference papers.
